VIRMUS (Virtual Museum) is a project supported by FP5, IST Program. It is carried out by two partners: RIDemo (coordinator) and the Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum (member).
VIRMUS trial uses 3DML to develop virtual representation of parts of the Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum. The project also provides Internet users with customized 3DML blocks and textures to create their own 3DML environments.
The project duration: August, 2001 - August, 2002.
Budget: 117 000 EUR.
VIRMUS involved 3 major phases: Data gathering; Data processing & interface development; and Evaluation and dissemination of the results.
Within the framework of TRIS web VIRMUS project was clustered with several other IST projects dealing with cultural heritage.
